Hyattsville native Frances Tiafoe beat Borna Coric in straight sets (7-6, 6-1, 6-3) in the second round at Wimbledon Wednesday.
Tiafoe, the 29th seed, will face Wimbledon defending champion and third seed Carlos Alcaraz in a third round match on Friday. In their last match against each other, Tiafoe – who had upset Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals – lost to Alcaraz in a memorable, five-set thriller in the semifinals of the 2022 U.S. Open.
