Temperatures will continue to be in the mid 90s for a few days. Monday through Wednesday may set temperature records for the area for this time of year.
Some tips for coping with extreme heat include: stay inside if you can. According to weather.gov, if you are outside, drink plenty of water, apply sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher), wear lightweight, loose-fitting and light colored clothing and take regular breaks in the shade.
It will be a very hot week ahead with a shot at daily temperature records each day through Wed. If any climate site were to hit 100 degrees, it would be several decades since that last occurred in Sep! Shower/thunderstorm chances return late in the week. #MDwx #VAwx #DCwx #WVwx pic.twitter.com/eUhGDVqkpc

A hot day as temps reached the mid-upper 90s along/east of I-81. The all-time September high was tied at Dulles, & daily record highs broken at BWI & IAD. The heat continues through at least Wednesday, w/temps 1-2 degrees hotter each day.

Temps have now reached the low-mid 90s. The 97F at Dulles Airport has broken the daily record high for that station (96F last set in 1993)!
For those outdoors today, be sure to protect yourself form the heat by staying hydrated & taking plenty of breaks. #DCwx #MDwx #VAwx #WVwx pic.twitter.com/Za2n4INKZt
