For the first time since November 2019, the three-time defending state champion Quince Orchard football team lost a game. Northwest beat their rivals 29-26 — and snapped the Cougars’ 39-game winning streak — to advance to the third round of the Maryland state playoffs.
Jaguars’ defensive end Xavier Rivers returned an interception in the second quarter for a 29-12 Northwest lead. The Cougars scored a late touchdown to cut the lead to 29-26 but the Jags held on to beat their rivals and advance to the third round of the playoffs.
