Montgomery County is under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. Monday as risk for severe storms continues.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the watch Monday afternoon. Earlier, NWS issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the county and surrounding areas from 2-9 p.m.
Sixteent jurisdictions in the state are under the tornado watch.
All federal employees in Washington, D.C. must depart their offices by 3 p.m., per the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
And, Montgomery Parks stated that Sligo Creek Parkway and Beach Drive are closed to vehicles due to risk of flooding and fallen trees.
Maryland State Police advises drivers to reduce speed, increase following distance, and have headlights on if windshield wipers are on.
