At approximately 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, a tractor-trailer overturned on northbound I-270 in Bethesda. As of 8 a.m., one right travel lane remained blocked, while two left lanes remained clear, according to the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination Program (MATOC).
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue (MCFRS) officials reported one adult sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A HazMat crew also assisted with scene cleanup as the overturned vehicle’s fuel saddle tanks were damaged and leaking.
According to MATOC, the two right travel lanes of the highway were initially closed after the crash, leaving one left lane and the left shoulder open. Extended closures are expected.
