U.S. Rep David Trone withdrew from a scheduled debate with Angela Alsobrooks Sunday due to health concerns.
In a statement posted on X, Trone’s team tweeted “Last night followed an event, David felt dehydrated and registered a fever. Out of an abundance of caution David’s doctor encouraged him to seek further testing at a local hospital. David is feeling well and expecting to return home this afternoon. We apologize for the late cancellation of events David was expected to participate in today, and look forward to being back on the trail soon.”

Monday afternoon, Trone tweeted that he was out of the hospital and feeling “great.”
Hey folks, just left the hospital and I'm feeling great (despite not having the best hair day)!
Per doctor's orders, I'm taking the afternoon to rest. I’m sorry we had to cancel events the past few days but I can't wait to be back out there, meeting & listening to Marylanders! pic.twitter.com/B4az2ksrub

Trone represents Maryland’s 6th congressional district including parts of Montgomery County. Trone and Alsobrooks are among the candidates for the Democratic primary for retiring U.S. Senator Ben Cardin’s seat which is vacated. Republican and former Maryland governor Larry Hogan was a surprise entry in the race which is expected to be very contentious and could tip the balance of seats in the Senate.
