Tuesday morning, the Maryland Department of Health reported 56 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County. Since the first case confirmed in March, the cumulative case count for the county has climbed to 23,135.
The county had a rolling seven-day average of 2.61% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a lower rate than 13 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
Since the first reported case in March, 810 county residents have died from COVID-19. No new deaths were reported Tuesday by the health department.
Montgomery County has led the state in coronavirus-related fatalities. Prince George’s County, however, has recorded over seven thousand more coronavirus cases in total since March.
The state recorded 413 new infections Tuesday, bringing its total to 128,204. Six new deaths were reported Tuesday morning, making the pandemic death toll 3,823.
Tuesday the state reported a rolling seven-day average of 2.95% for positive COVID-19 tests. This is the first day since Sept. 26 that the average decreased.
