The University of Maryland (UMD) is asking for donations to its Student Crisis Fund.
The fund helps students who are hit with emergency financial needs, according to its page. The crisis fund usually gets a few requests for assistance per week, but recently has gotten at least 50 per day due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, UMD says the fund has almost run out. Donations will help students with basic needs, like food and housing, which may have been disrupted by classes moving online and the campus closing.
