Following a U.S. House of Representatives Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, the University of Maryland, College Park will now allow residential students who test positive for COVID-19 to quarantine on campus.
This comes three weeks after the Subcommittee announced an investigation into the school’s isolation policies. The investigation specifically looked into the university’s policy that required residential students who tested positive for COVID-19 and who have a permanent residence within 300 miles of the school to relocate off-campus during a five-day isolation period.
According to a letter sent to the subcommittee, the changes to the policy were made in consultation with the Prince George’s County Health Department. The new policy went into effect Wednesday.
