Van Hollen Protests the Privatization of the Post Office

On Tuesday, Senator Chris Van Hollen held a rally on Capitol Hill to support postal workers. Under the current Department of Government Efficiency plan, the service will experience thousands of projected employee layoffs. In addition,  local post offices will be closed down and delivery to rural areas will be slowed as the administration seeks to privatize the United States Postal Service (USPS).

USPS was founded in 1775 with Ben Franklin as its first Postmaster General. Every day it processes and delivers millions of letters and packages. One of the largest logistical operations in the world, it offers universal service across the country and its territories, regardless of location.
