Van Hollen Speaks Out Against Social Security Cutbacks

On Monday, Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen spoke out about the impact of the recent Department of Efficiency (DOGE) cutbacks on the Social Security Administration (SSA) and its ability to continue to serve the more than 73 million Americans who depend on it.

So far in 2025, the SSA looks to reduce its workforce of 57,000 to 50,000 through voluntary early retirement, separation incentives and RIF actions. According to DOGE this will streamline operations and cut costs.
