By 11 a.m. Tuesday, 295 had cast ballots at the Margaret Schweinhart Senior Center in Silver Spring, including 207 Democrats, 31 Republicans and 56 unaffiliated voters.
“It’s been kind of steady, more than average,” said Election Judge Isaac Huarra.
Carla Butler was there “just to register my vote – got to make it count,” she said.
A few members of Girl Scout Troop 3401 were distributing baked goods and receiving donations.
A seventh grader from A. Mario Loiederman Middle School was volunteering as part of the Montgomery County young future voters’ program. Participating students choose either to earn SSL hours or a stipend while receiving a hands-on introduction to the voting process.
