After a six-month closure, the Washington Monument will reopen to visitors on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
The monument will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors are required to wear masks inside the monument, regardless of vaccination status.
Visitors must obtain a ticket for the Washington Monument which will be available online only from recreation.gov. Tickets will not be available on the site of the monument. Tickets are available at 10 a.m. for the next day’s visits. Each ticket is good for up to four individuals in a group traveling together. There is a reservation fee of $1.00 per ticket.
The Washington Monument closed in March of 2020 due to COVID-19. It reopened in October before closing again in January 2021. The National Park Service Office of Public Health is using CDC guidance to ensure public areas and workspaces are safe and clean for visitors, employees, partners and volunteers.
