Water main breaks over the weekend closed parts of Colesville Road and Knowles Avenue.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer stated emergency utility work Sunday closed all lanes on southbound Colesville at Lorain Ave between Southwood and Timberwood avenues in Silver Spring.
Southbound lanes remain closed as of Monday.
WSSC Water stated it is working to open the southbound lanes by Monday evening.
The county’s Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security states a detour is in place and tells drivers to seek an alternate route.
In Kensington, a 12-inch water main was broken Saturday, according to Piringer. Knowles Avenue was closed between Beach Drive and Weymouth Street but has since reopened.
