The State’s Attorney’s Office initiated the new student video contest for middle and high school students in Montgomery County this fall. The Speak Up, Save a Life challenge enabled students to create a public service announcement video about the dangers of opioid misuse and fentanyl.
It was part of the Save a Student Summit that was held at Gaithersburg High School Sunday.
Elessar Issenberg of Northwood High School earned second place and $750 for the video, I’ll Never Tell.
Jasper Chen, of Thomas W. Pyle Middle School, came in third for the video “Learn the Facts about Teen Drug Abuse.” He received $500.
The prize money was donated by The Magnolia Companies in honor of two young county residents who lost their battles to fentanyl – Michael Pisarra and Matthew Loudoun.
