Crys Matthews: Eclectic singer Crys Matthews is coming to the BlackRock Center for the Arts. Her music is a fusion of genres including Americana, jazz and funk. Matthews won honorable mention awards at the 2013, 2014 and 2017 Mid-Atlantic Song Contests. The performance is Oct. 17 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 12901 Town Commons Drive, Germantown. Baltimore Symphony Orchestra: Off the Cuff – Brahms Symphony No. 4: The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is coming to Strathmore on Oct. 18. Brahms Symphony No. 4 is an emotional piece that helped Brahms forge a new path for modern composers of the 20th Century. The concert is at 8:15 p.m. at 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda. A Very Spooky Mac & Cheese Cookoff: True Respite and Saints Row Brewing Companies are having their second annual Very Spooky Mac & Cheese Cookoff on Oct. 19. Contestants can bring their best mac and cheese dishes for taste-testing and judging by attendees. Anyone can participate in judging and voting. There will also be a costume contest and a new beer release. The event is from noon to 4 p.m. at True Respite Brewing Company at 7301 Calhoun Place #600, Derwood and Saints Row Brewing Company at 1211-1213 Taft St., Rockville. North Potomac Fall Festival: Montgomery County Recreation is holding its Annual Fall Festival at the North Potomac Community Recreation Center on Oct. 19. The festival will have live music, face painting, crafts and more. The event goes from noon to 3 p.m. at 13850 Travilah Road, Rockville. Click here for more information. Free.
Olney OktoberFestival: The first annual Olney OktoberFestival will be on Oct. 20 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The family-friendly event includes carnival games, food trucks, live music and a “Bier and Wine Garten” for attendees ages 21 and older. The event is at Good Counsel High School at 17301 Old Vic Blvd., Olney, in the parking lot between the school and athletic fields. Click here for more information.
