Wednesday, the area continues to deal with extreme cold temperatures and icy conditions following Monday’s winter storm.
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) are now closed Wednesday due to the icy conditions and extremely cold temperatures.
Montgomery College is now closed Wednesday. All in-person and online classes and services for the day are canceled.
The University of Maryland, College Park will open late at 10 a.m. In-person classes may move to virtual during this time period. Find more information here.
Federal Government:
Federal offices in the Washington, D.C. area are open. Employees have the option to take unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework. Find more details here.

State of Maryland:
Liberal leave is in place for state employees through 10 a.m. Wednesday. Emergency essential employees should report to work as scheduled. Non-emergency essential employees who report to the office to work may use liberal leave upon notification to the employee’s supervisor. Teleworkers should work as scheduled unless leave is granted.
Montgomery County:
The Montgomery County government offices and departments operate normally Wednesday.
Ride On buses will resume regular weekday service. Some delays or detours are possible Wednesday due to ice and snow. Riders should check the Ride On website for updates.
UPDATE: All Recreation programs, classes and activities for Wednesday are canceled. Aquatic, recreation and senior centers are open for drop-in activities.
Metrobus:
Update: Metrobus is now running on a light snow service plan with 192 of 193 bus routes in operation. Some routes may experience detours if the roads are unsafe to navigate.
Metrorail is running regular service.
