The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts a high temperature of 97 degrees with a heat index between 105-109 degrees for Thursday. The NWS issued a heat advisory for the region from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The combination of high temps and high humidity may create a combination in which heat illnesses are possible. Officials encourage residents to be careful when spending time outdoors. Be aware of signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke which include shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea or vomiting, headache, and flushed skin.
A child’s body temperature rises quickly in the heat. Be careful not to leave children or pets in a vehicle.
A Heat Advisory has been issued for Thursday. Maximum heat indices in the advisory area are expected to be 105-109 degrees. Outside of the advisory, it will still be hot.
