Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot has a value of $1.09 billion—the fourth-largest jackpot in the game’s history.
The Powerball jackpot was last won on Jan. 1, by a ticket sold in Michigan that won a prize worth $842.4 million. Since then, there have been 39 drawings in a row without a jackpot winner. Wednesday’s drawing will be the 40th drawing in this jackpot run.
If a player wins the jackpot in Wednesday’s drawing, they may choose between an annuitized prize worth an estimate $1.09 billion or a lump sum payment estimated at $527.3 million.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per game, with options to spend an extra $1 each for Power Play and Double Play. Players select five numbers between 1 and 69 (white balls) and one number between 1 and 26 (red ball). Tickets are available at any Maryland Lottery retailer.
Odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
The three largest jackpots are:
- $2.04 billion drawing held November 7, 2022 won by Edwin Castro in Altadena, California.
- $1.765 billion drawing held October 11, 2023 won with a single ticket sold in California.
- $1.586 billion drawing held January 13, 2016 won by three individuals, in California, Florida, and Tennessee.
