Wegmans has issued a public health alert for its frozen, fully cooked chicken nuggets due to possible bone contamination. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the alert to warn consumers not to eat the product.
The affected 46-ounce packages contain “Wegmans FAMILY PACK FULLY COOKED Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat.” The “Best if Used By” date is August 26, 2025, and the USDA mark of inspection includes establishment number “P-33944.” The product was sold in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
FSIS issued the alert after Wegmans received multiple consumer complaints about bone fragments in the product. No injuries have been reported. Consumers should return the product to any Wegmans store for a full refund or dispose of it.
Currently, there is one Wegmans grocery store in the County, located at 20600 Seneca Meadows Parkway in Germantown. The grocery store chain will open their ninth Maryland and second Montgomery County store in Rockville later this year.
For more information, consumers can contact Wegmans Food Markets at 1-855-934-3663. Those with food safety concerns can call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854 or submit complaints online at the FSIS website.
