Wheaton Arts Parade Gallery Still Seeks Permanent Place to Call Home

Wheaton Arts Parade Gallery’s exhibit reception for 20 area artists Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.. is being held in its temporary space on Veirs Mill Road and Grandview Avenue in Wheaton.

Since losing its lease in Westfield Wheaton Mall, the Wheaton Arts Parade Gallery has struggled to find a home for its art studios, boxes of yarn, paint, frames and other art supplies.

For the past two months, it has been operating in a former restaurant, thanks to Greenhill Companies. But the space is temporary, and no long-term home has been located, according to Arts Parade Executive Director Dan Thompson.

“They are very generous,” Thompson said of Greenhill and its founders Leonard and Richard Greenberg. Greenhill is a founding sponsor of the Wheaton Arts Parade and Festival.

The studio, which is open Fridays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., is located in Wheaton, and that’s were Wheaton Arts Parade Gallery hopes to remain.

“Our mission is Wheaton,” Thompson said.

Meanwhile, arts parade staff and artists continue to plan for their annual parade, and festival which will be held Sept. 29.
