Multiple police departments in Montgomery County are participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Saturday.
The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) started the day in response to the drug overdose epidemic in the United States. Police departments can dispose of ensure unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs correctly and safely. No liquids, syringes, inhalers, hydrogen peroxide or aerosol cans accepted. Here are the drop-offs taking place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.:
Rockville City Police Department
The RCPD will be hosting take backs on both April 27 and 28 at the same time. Community members can drop off prescription drugs at the police station at 2 W Montgomery Avenue.
Takoma Park Police Department
The Takoma Park Police Department maintains a permanent 24/7 drop off box in the first floor lobby of their station on Maple Avenue. Drugs can be dropped off with no questions asked.
Gaithersburg City Police Department
The GCPD will be accepting drop-offs at their police station on 14 Fulks Corner Ave or the Costco at 880 Russell Avenue.
Montgomery County Department of Police (multiple locations)
The MCDP maintains several permanent drop off boxes. They are located in the lobbies of all six district stations.
