At the end of December, White’s Ferry will mark its third year without operation. In October, the County Council met with all the parties involved in this stalemate. Montgomery County Transportation Director Chris Conklin outlined the events leading to the ferry’s closure and the lack of progress since.
In the course of the Council meeting, Chuck Kuhn, the current owner of the ferry, offered Libby Devlin, owner of the ferry landing in Virginia, an additional $150,000 to get the ferry back on the river. But as of this writing there has been no recognition of that offer. The current offer stands at $1,250,000 for the 1.4 acre landing site on Rockland Farms.
