Track’s new phenom Quincy Wilson finished sixth in the finals of the 400 meters of the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, OR Monday. The result – he ran in 44.94 – means Wilson is not an automatic qualifier to represent the U.S. at the Paris Olympics. But the 16-year-old Bullis sophomore could still get the call to be part of the 4 x 400 meter relay team pool. The final roster will be set by July 7.
“I can’t go back and be disappointed because at the end of the day, I’m 16 and running grown man time,” Wilson said.
If Wilson makes the team, he would become the youngest to run the race in the Olympics from any country in almost 50 years and the youngest ever to represent the U.S.
