Sarah Wolek, a senior faculty specialist at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, was sworn in Monday to her new role as state delegate in the 16th District.
She was chosen by the county Democratic Central Committee for the seat left vacant when Ariana Kelly was chosen to become senator in District 16, filling Susan Lee’s seat. Lee now serves as Maryland Secretary of State.
Wolek is a Wootton High School graduate. She earned a degree in economics and information technology from the University of Maryland. She has taught at the University of Maryland since 2017.
During the Obama Administration, Wolek was a policy analyst and program manager at the White House Office of Management and Budget.
District 16 covers the area around Bethesda and Potomac. It currently is represented by Delegates Marc Korman and Sara Love and Sen. Ariana Kelly.
Today, I was pleased to swear in our newest delegate representing Maryland’s 16th Legislative District.
