The Acatonics, the all-gender a cappella group at Wootton High School, won the first place prize over the weekend at SingStrong, New York’s annual high school competition.
Seniors Ashley Chan and Shravan Kannepalli also received Best Soloist and Best Vocal Percussion honors, respectively.
The win marks the group’s return to the top of the podium at SingStrong, which holds its annual international a cappella festival at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. The group first won the competition in 2020.
Acatonics, a combination of Wootton’s Acabellas and Supertonics, frequents high levels of a cappella competition. The group boasts three quarterfinal wins in the International Championship of High School A Cappella, most recently in 2022.
