On Monday afternoon, parents of Wootton High School students rallied after school. Calling themselves The Patrons of the Arts, they wanted to register their disapproval of the plan to involuntarily transfer two teachers from the school’s faculty. Both the theater and music teachers were scheduled to leave at the end of June. Concerned parents shared their thoughts with MCM.
Since MCM edited this video the Wootton principal, Dr. Bostic, shared this with the school’s community:
“As a part of our annual staffing work, we have re-evaluated enrollment numbers and we are happy to report that Ms. Eckerle will be returning to Wootton as a full-time music teacher. This evening, Ms. Eckerle was informed of this update. We are continuing to work with the MCPS Department of Fine Arts to review the enrollment in theater classes, and we will provide the community with an update when we are able to do so. ”
