A Wootton High School student who was arrested and charged for allegedly planning a school shooting has been indicted, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office (MCSAO).
In April, Police Chief Marcus Jones said that 18-year-old Alex Ye wrote about targeting his former elementary school — Lakewood Elementary — and strategized how to access classrooms at Wootton. He was charged with threats of mass violence.
A scheduling hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday morning to determine trial dates for Ye.
Ye wrote a 129-page manifesto, according to police. According to the school system, he was taking online classes and accessing school staff remotely and was not physically present at school since fall 2022.
