On Sunday, May 7, the Metro’s Yellow Line will once again offer train service to stations in Northern Virginia including Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
The resumption follows an 8-month interruption of transit due to needed repair of a deteriorating tunnel and bridge built in the 1970’s. According to its press release Metro describes the project as on time and under budget.
Trains will run every 8 minutes from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the first month between Huntington Station in Virginia to Mount Vernon Square in D.C. At other times and on weekends will see trains arriving every 12 minutes. This represents a 60% increase in train service from earlier operations.
In June customers can expect trains to run every 8 minutes all day every day of the week.
